Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Goodword, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on withgoodword.com and the Goodword application (collectively, the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow us to recognise your device, maintain your login session, store preferences, and measure how the Service is used. We also use related technologies such as local storage for session state (including your cookie-notice dismissal).
3. How We Use Cookies
Goodword uses cookies in the following categories:
| Category | Examples | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Login session token, CSRF protection, cookie-notice dismissal state | Session to 12 months |
| Preferences | UI theme, language setting, onboarding progress | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Self-hosted analytics (anonymised page views, feature usage); no third-party ad networks | Up to 13 months |
| Marketing | Not currently used | N/A |
4. Notice and Choice
We operate a notice-only consent model for US users. By continuing to use the Service, you acknowledge our use of cookies as described above. You can opt out of analytics cookies by configuring your browser or by using our cookie banner (accessible via "Cookie preferences" in the footer).
5. Universal Opt-Out Signals
Where applicable state law requires (including California under CCPA/CPRA, Colorado under CPA, Connecticut under CTDPA, Texas under TDPSA, and Oregon under CPA), we honour browser-transmitted opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") for sale and targeted-advertising categories. We do not sell personal data and do not use targeted advertising cookies; if we detect a GPC signal, we suppress analytics initialisation regardless of your banner dismissal state.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies may be set by third-party service providers acting on our behalf for analytics. We have data-processing agreements with such providers limiting their use of data to providing services to us. We do not permit third-party advertising cookies on the Service.
If you have connected a Gmail or Outlook integration, those providers may set their own cookies during the OAuth authentication flow. Those cookies are governed by Google's and Microsoft's own privacy policies.
7. Managing Cookies
- Use the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer to reopen the cookie notice and opt out of analytics.
- Browser settings allow you to block or delete cookies; see aboutcookies.org for instructions specific to your browser.
- Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will affect your ability to stay logged in to the Service.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update this policy when we add new integrations or change our analytics stack. The "Last updated" date will reflect any change.
